UFC on Fox 8 Predictions
After a short break the UFC is back on Saturday night with UFC on FOX 8 at the Key Arena in Seattle. Tune in to Facebook at 4pm to start watching the prelims. The FX prelims start at 5pm and the main card starts at 8pm on FOX.
For a non-PPV event the fight card is loaded and features a title fight in the main event for the flyweight championship between Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga. Rory MacDonald is in action for the first time this year against Ellenberger as well.
UFC on FOX 8 Best Bets
- Bet on Robbie Lawler to Win by TKO/KO -105 vs. Voelker (5Dimes)
Robbie Lawler (20-9-1) made the drop to welterweight in his last fight and knocked out Josh Koscheck. Bobby Voelker (24-9) lost in his UFC debut against Patrick Cote at UFC 158 by decision. Lawler has 17 TKO/KO wins while Voelker has 15 TKO/KO victories.
Lawler has power in both hands and has great timing with his striking. Voelker took some big shots against Cote, but he looked good on the ground. However, Voelker is likely to get caught up in a striking war and my money is on Lawler by TKO/KO.
- Bet on Mac Danzig +104 vs. Guillard (Pinnacle)
Mac Danzig (21-10-1) and Melvin Guillard (30-12-2) are likely both nearing the end of their careers. Both fighters have been on a rough stretch as of late. Guillard has lost 4 of his L5 fights while Danzig is just 4-6 since 2008 (Lost to Gomi in Last Fight).
Danzig has to come into this fight and use his jiu-jitsu to take this fight to the ground where he can win. Guillard has 19 TKO/KO wins, but he has been submitted 9X in his career. Danzig will win this fight if he avoids the stand-up and takes Melvin down.
- Bet on Yves Edwards +118 vs. Cruickshank (SportBet)
The veteran Yves Edwards (42-19-1) has dealt with some consistency problems at the tail end of his career, as he had alternated wins and losses over the last few fights. Daron Cruickshank (12-3) is 2-1 in the UFC after losing to Makdessi earlier this year.
Cruickshank is likely to stand-up and box with Edwards, which gives the underdog the edge in my opinion. Edwards has 16 wins by TKO/KO in his career and he showed his power against Stephens last December. I like Edwards to win this fight.
- Bet on Johnson, Carmouche, MacDonald & Lawler +182 (Pinnacle)
Moraga is getting a shot at the title a little early and Johnson’s experience should play a role in this fight. Carmouche is back in the cage and will want to pick up a victory after losing to Rousey. She’ll be fighting Brazilian Jessica Andrade.
MacDonald has a tough fight against Ellenberger, but Rory is better statistically in basically every area. MacDonald is on a 4-fight win streak and those wins were against tough fighters including Nate Diaz and BJ Penn.
I also added Lawler to the parlay to win SU rather than by TKO/KO. You could bet Lawler to win by knockout to make the payout bigger. The only one that worries me is Carmouche. If you take her off of your parlay the payout odds are +137 at Pinnacle.
