UFC on FOX 14 Best Bets – Scott Jack
- Bet Gustafsson vs. Johnson O2.5 Rounds –140 (5 Dimes)
Alexander Gustafsson (16-2) bounced back after his loss to Jones with a TKO win over Manuwa. Anthony Johnson (18-4) has won his last eight fights including two wins in the UFC (Nogueira & Davis). Since dropping in weight class he has looked great in the cage.
The Swede will be fighting in his home country and he has an edge in striking. Johnson has incredible power and Gustafsson can’t let him get close enough to land a power strike. I expect Gustafsson to win, but I feel much better taking the O2.5 rounds.
- Bet Davis by Decision +108 (Bovada) vs. Bader
Ryan Bader (18-4) is on a nice 3-fight win streak including his latest over St. Preux, which was impressive. Phil Davis (13-2-0-1) is a big favorite and deservedly so. Davis has a 5’’ reach advantage, so he’ll be able to out strike Bader plus keep his distance as well.
Bader will be looking for takedowns and to keep Davis on his back for the duration of the fight. I don’t expect that to happen. Bader has never lost a fight by decision, but Davis really isn’t a big finisher and with the way Bader has looked I expect him to last 3 rounds.
- Bet Krylov –120 (Bet365) vs. Nedkov
Stanislav Nedkov (12-1-0-1) has a NC and a loss to Watson in his last two fights. He hasn’t fought since February 2013, so you have to assume he’ll have some cage rust. Nikita Krylov (17-4) has been inconsistent, but he has a lot of power and can knock out anyone.
Krylov will have a 6’’ reach advantage in this fight and he’s a very active striker. He averages 5.38 SLpM and has 62% accuracy, which is excellent. Krylov should be able to pick apart Nedkov in this fight and I’m surprised that these odds aren’t higher yet.
- Bet Sicilia +110 (Pinnacle) vs. Corassani
Sam Sicilia (13-5) has struggled in the UFC, but I’m going to take a shot on him to beat Akira Corassani (12-5-0-1) even though this is in Sweden. Corassani absorbs 5.09 SLpM. Sicilia isn’t known for his hands, but even he should be able to land a lot of strikes.
Sicilia may be able to land a takedown or two as well in this fight although Corassani has strong TD defense. These two fighters are basically identical in size and this will be a close fight. Sicilia has the TD potential plus I expect him to land more shots, so I’ll bet him.
- Bet Gustafsson – Mousasi – Davis – Krylov Parlay +333 (5 Dimes)
I’ve already explained why I like three of the fighters on this parlay. I’m also adding Gegard Mousasi to beat Dan Henderson. This will be a great co-main event between two experienced fighters, but I’ll take the younger fighter that has a lot more left in the tank.
