- Bet Gabriel Gonzaga by TKO/KO +150 (5 Dimes) vs. Mirko Filipovic
Gonzaga (16-9) is 35-years old and I’m unsure how he’ll look in Poland, but he should have enough left in the tank to beat Cro Cop (30-11-2-1) by TKO/KO. In Filipovic’s 2nd UFC stint, he went 3-4 and he lost his last three UFC fights by knockout.
Cro Cop has since won a few IGF fights, but he’ll be in over his head in this fight. Gonzaga knocked out Cro Cop back in 2007 and I expect the same result. Gonzaga isn’t the same fighter, but it wasn’t long ago (2013) when he beat Herman and Jordan by KO.
- Bet Jan Blachowicz ML +143 (SportsBet) vs. Jimi Manuwa
Blachowicz (18-3) is a towering fighter and he’ll have a 4’’ reach advantage against Manuwa (14-1). The Polish fighter won his debut in R1 against Latifi. Manuwa is 3-1 in the UFC after losing to Gustafsson by TKO and I expect him to take another step back.
Manuwa has shown that he can switch levels and work some TD’s, but not often enough. This fight is likely fought standing up with these two swinging at each other until one topples. Blachowicz is a bigger and more active striker, plus he’s fighting at home.
- Bet Taylor Lapilus by Submission +175 (Unibet) vs. Rocky Lee
I don’t know much about Taylor Lapilus (8-1) or Rocky Lee (3-0), but I know enough to like the odds on Lapilus by submission. Both fighters are making their UFC debut. Neither guy has much power, but they can both finish with submissions.
Lapilus has six submission wins already and he currently has more to offer than Lee in that regard. Lapilus has more experience too, plus he has fought tougher guys. Nerves may play a role in this one, but I still expect Lapilus to lock in a submission to end the fight.
- Bet Leon Edwards ML –131 (Pinnacle) vs. Seth Baczynski
Edwards (8-2) lost his debut by split decision against Claudio Da Silva in Brazil. I expect him to bounce back against Baczynski (19-12) who has lost four of his last five fights. Baczynski is a fighter that’ll push forward, especially now that he’s desperate for a win.
Edwards has some power in his punches and I expect him to land some counterpunches and end this fight. Baczynski doesn’t have a great chin, as he has been knocked out three times. This one could go either way, but I like the favorite to win in this fight.
UFC Fight Night 64 Parlays
I’ll likely throw some small parlays together with Gonzaga, Edwards, Moraes and Lapilus, but I’m not sure which way I’m going yet on those. I won’t have many parlays this weekend. I don’t love this fight card and I’ll likely just stick with what I have above.
