UFC Fight Night 61
This fight card appears tough. UFC Fight Night 61 will be in Brazil and there are a lot of good Brazilian fighters on the card, but there are no locks. The odds were just released Tuesday and we haven’t seen too much movement on the lines yet.

UFC Fight Night 61 Best Bets – Scott Jack
- Bet Edson Barboza –169 (5Dimes) vs. Michael Johnson
Edson Barboza (15-2) has looked good since losing to Cerrone by submission. He has two wins over Dunham and Green. Barboza has looked explosive and we all know how technical he is. The only way I see Michael Johnson (15-8) winning is if he lands a knockout.
Johnson has won three fights in a row against some tough competition, but he isn’t going to win a decision. I’ve seen some people worried about Barboza’s chin, but he has only been KO’ed once (Varner). Barboza lands more combos and outpoints Johnson.
- Bet Frank Mir +223 (Bet365) vs. Antonio Silva
I wouldn’t go big on Frank Mir (16-9), especially in Brazil, but he’s a live underdog. Mir has lost four in a row, but those have been against some of the best heavyweights in the business. Post-TRT Antonio Silva (18-6-1) has looked horrible especially last time out.
Mir may be on a long losing streak, but he fights the best and he always gives it 100%. Silva doesn’t appear to have anything left in the tank and this will likely be his last fight. He’ll get to fight in Brazil one more time, but I expect Mir to win a decision.
- Bet Khabilov & Alcantara Parlay –125 (Bovada)
Rustam Khabilov (17-2) lost to Henderson in his last fight, but he’s still 3-1 in the UFC with two TKO/KO wins. Adriano Martins (26-7) is 1-1 in the UFC and no slouch from what I’ve seen, but the Russian has never been knocked out and he’ll control the fight.
Iuri Alcantara (31-5-0-1) is on a 3-fight winning streak including a lightning fast KO over Lee. Frankie Saenz (9-2) won his UFC debut over Ticman, but he’s being served to the wolves in this fight. I’m also considering betting Alcantara ITD straight up this weekend.
- Bet Barboza & Andrade Parlay +127 (5Dimes)
I already explained why I like Barboza. Jessica Andrade (12-3) is on a 3-fight winning streak since losing to Carmouche in her UFC debut. Marion Reneau (5-1) won he UFC debut, but she really hasn’t fought anyone in her career and Andrade should crush her.
- Bet Khabilov – Alcantara – Barboza – Andrade Parlay +314 (Bet365)
I’m also going to parlay the four fighters that I like together. I’d definitely avoid Silva in any parlays you’re betting. I like Ferreira, but I still don’t trust him too much. Another option is Strickland who has yet to lose a fight in his MMA career.
This is a tough fight card and I’m going with a lot of parlays because I don’t want to bet a bunch of favorites straight up and have a lot at risk. The event isn’t until Sunday due to it being in Brazil, so you have all weekend to prepare your bets.
