UFC Fight Night 27 Predictions
The UFC is back on this Wednesday for a midweek event. UFC Fight Night 27 will be hosted at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The event will be available live on Fox 1 for free this week and while the fight card isn’t stacked like the last event there are some great fights.
UFC Fight Night 27 Predictions
Erik Perez -128 (Pinnacle) vs. Takeya Mizugaki
Erik Perez is just 23 years old and shaping up to be a great prospect, as he has started his UFC career 3-0 with all victories coming by stoppage. Mizugaki (17-7-2) is now 4-2 in the UFC with two straight wins over Hougland and Caraway by decision.
Perez hasn’t been taken down yet in the UFC, but he’ll be tested in that area against Mizugaki who averages 1.69 takedowns per 15 minutes in the cage. However, Perez is much more versed in the stand-up and his accuracy (71%) is excellent for an active striker.
I wouldn’t expect Perez to stop the more experienced Mizugaki in this fight, but he should earn a decision win. Both fighters have good stand-up defence in the cage. However, Perez averages 7.06 SLpM while Mizugaki only averages 2.94 SLpM (38% Accuracy).
Donald Cerrone -162 (SportBet) vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Cerrone (20-5) got back into the win column with a victory over Noons in his last fight. He now takes on Dos Anjos (19-6) who has won 4 straight fights. The level of competition that Anjos has faced isn’t nearly close to the level that Cerrone has been fighting.
This is another fight where I’m backing the much better striker. Anjos has great grappling and a good ground game, but Cerrone is no slouch and I don’t think he’ll let this fight go to the mat. Cerrone can win a striking battle against Anjos by keeping the fight standing.
Abel Trujillo -110 (Pinnacle) vs. Roger Bowling
Bowling (11-4) has lost his L2 fights including his UFC debut against Njokuani. Trujillo (10-5) lost his last fight to Nurmagomedov, but I think he’ll bounce back this week. Trujillo has a small reach advantage and his striking is better than Bowling in the stand-up.
Trujillo has to be cautious about takedowns, as Bowling will try to work takedowns. Bowling only completes 38% of his takedowns in the cage and I don’t think he’ll prove much of a problem for Killa. Trujillo will win a decision and Bowling will be on his way out.
Perez/Cerrone/Trujillo +446 & Perez/Cerrone/Trujillo/Kampmann +1626 (Pinnacle)
I’m betting two parlays this weekend that are almost identical. I’ve parlayed my three best bets together and on the 2nd parlay I also added Kampmann as a big underdog. The reason I added Kampmann was because there is no way he should be such a big underdog.
Kampmann beat Condit a few years back and while you could say that Condit has grown more as a fighter I don’t buy it. Kampmann is a tough dude and if he comes into this fight utilizing his wrestling he could upset Condit and be 2-0 against the Natural Born Killer.
