Best Bets for UFC 172
- Bet Jim Miller ITD +310 (5Dimes) vs. Yancy Medeiros
I couldn’t pass up these odds. Jim Miller (23-4-1) was supposed to Bobby Green, but he’ll now fight Yancy Medeiros (9-1-1) who has gone 0-1-1 in the UFC. Miller can’t afford to lose this fight and I think he’ll look to take Medeiros down to the mat early in this one.
From the ground Miller should be able to lock in a submission on the inexperienced lightweight. Medeiros is a big lightweight that’ll have a 6’’ reach advantage in the stand-up. I think fighting someone as experienced as Miller is too much for Medeiros to handle.
- Bet Fili vs. Holloway Goes the Distance –150 (SportBet)
I’m still debating whether or not to bet Max Holloway (8-3) as an underdog against Andre Fili (13-1). Both of these fighters have long futures in the UFC, but I think the experience of Holloway will shine through in this one. Let’s get to what I already bet on though.
I expect the odds on this going the distance to get worse, so I’ve bet it already. Fili has power, but Holloway has never been KO’ed in his career. Holloway uses excellent combinations, but I don’t think he’ll KO Fili. This should be a stand-up war that goes the distance.
- Bet Phil Davis –208 (Pinnacle) vs. Anthony Johnson
Phil Davis (12-1-1) is on a 3-fight win streak and just beat Lyoto Machida. His lone loss was against Rashad Evans in a fight where he looked terrible. Anthony Johnson (16-4) has looked great at light heavyweight and he has heavy hands, but Davis will win.
There is always potential for Johnson to win by TKO/KO, but Davis is much more likely to win this fight by closing the distance and taking this fight to the mat where he’ll have a big edge. Davis seems refocused in the cage and these odds seem generous.
- Bet Jon Jones ITD –160 (5Dimes) vs. Glover Teixeira
Glover Teixeira (22-2) gets a title shot after winning all five of his UFC fights. One concern I have is that out of those wins only one came against a T10 light heavyweight and that was Ryan Bader. I think the brawler is going to struggle against Jon Jones (19-1).
Jones didn’t look good against Gustafsson, but that’s because the Swede is technical like himself. Teixeira is a brawler and he’ll end up getting caught by Jones as the fight wears on. I think Teixeira will have his cardio tested and Jones will end this in R3 or R4.
- Bet Jones / Davis / Rockhold / Miller / Benavidez Parlay +274 (SportBet)
I definitely like Jones, Davis, Rockhold and Miller on the main card. I’m also adding Joseph Benavidez to beat Tim Elliot. Benavidez is 6-2 in the UFC with both losses to Demetrious Johnson. He’ll beat Elliot easily and is a great fighter to have on your parlays.
