UFC on Fox 4 Shogun vs Vera Betting Odds
This weekend UFC on Fox 4 will be on TV for free and the fight card is great for a free event. The betting odds have just been put out by most bookmakers for every fight and we’re going to analyze the main card fights. We spent a few days researching all of the main card fights and we’re looking to go at least 3-1 four our readers this weekend.

UFC on Fox 4 Main Event Odds & Predictions
- Mauricio Rua -340 vs. Brendon Vera +280
Shogun Rua (20-6) is back in the cage after a long hiatus. Rua lost his last fight by decision to Dan Henderson at UFC 139, but he was able to show bettors what he had left in the tank. Brendon Vera (12-5) wasn’t able to beat the top LHW fighters when Vera has the chances, but he did win his last fight again Eliot Marshall.
The stats are close for these two fighters, but what it comes down to in my opinion is Shogun’s ground game. Shogun averages 2.41 takedowns per 15 minutes in the cage compared to 0.75 for Vera. Vera has pretty good takedown defence at 62%, but if Rua works his ground game he should win. At the current odds its hard being confident, as Rua was bet up from -290 to -340.
UFC on Fox 4 Main Card Odds & Predictions
- Lyoto Machida -300 vs. Ryan Bader +250
Lyoto Machida (17-3) is a huge favourite over Ryan Bader (14-2). Machida is my pick to win this fight although like the main event the odds are huge. Machida is a way stronger fighter standing up than Bader and he’ll easily win the stand-up. Bader was able to beat Rampage in his last fight, but I think Machida will be prepared for his wrestling. Machida has great takedown defence (80%) and the fact that he has experience against many of the world’s best LHW fighters will help him here.
- Mike Swick -220 vs. Demarques Johnson +180
Mike Swick (14-4) will be fighting Demarques Johnson (15-10) and I have to say this fight doesn’t excite me. Both fighters haven’t done well in the cage recently and anyone could win depending upon who shows up to fight. This fight will be kept standing up and Johnson is my underdog pick on the main card at UFC on Fox 4. Johnson matches up well against Swick, but Johnson needs to ensure he doesn’t leave himself open like he normally does (He gets hit 3.92 times per minute in the cage on average).
- Joe Lauzon -120 vs. Jamie Varner +100
Two experienced fighters meet in the 1st main card fight. Joe Lauzon (21-7) is looking to get back in the win column after losing in his last fight to Pettis. Jamie Varner (20-6-1) is on a 3-fight win streak with his last win against Barboza. My pick is Varner, as he matches up well with Lauzon as long as Varner can defend Lauzon’s submissions. Varner has slightly better takedowns and also takedown defence, so I think he’ll be able to control this fight and avoid the numerous submission attempts by Lauzon.
