The undefeated Velasquez earned a first round TKO over Brock Lesnar back in October 2010 at UFC 121 to capture the UFC Heavyweight strap. Cain’s victory over Lesnar completed a dominant run to the title that left many UFC Heavyweights in his wake including; former interim-champion Minotauro Nogueira, top contender Cheick Kongo, and veteran Big Ben Rothwell. Despite only 9 career fights, Cain still has an impressive resume earning 8 TKO or KO victories and a perfect 7-0 record inside the Octagon.

The Challenger, Junior Dos Santos has been equally as impressive, with an identical 7-0 record in the UFC. In his last two appearances Junior dominated from bell to bell against top heavyweights Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. Prior to his wins over Nelson and Carwin, JDS has stopped 4 of his 5 opponents inside the first round including a huge upset victory over heavily favoured Fabricio Werdum in his debut at UFC 90.

UFC on Fox 1 will bring together two of the most dominant heavyweights in recent memory, with many people drawing comparisons to the 2005 meeting of Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko Cro Cop at Pride Final Contact 2005 when they battled for the Pride Heavyweight title.

This fight will serve at the launching off point for the UFC as it enters mainstream television and it should not disappoint. With the inaugural UFC on Fox telecast set at only 1 hour, the rest of the fights on the card will be air on Facebook and Fox.com.

Headlining the undercard will be a lightweight contest that will most likely produce the next challenger for Frankie Edgar’s UFC Lightweight Championship. Ben Henderson, the former WEC Lightweight champion lost his opportunity to challenge for the UFC title when he was defeated by in his final WEC appearance. Since that fight Henderson has earned back to back dominant decision victories over UFC veterans Mark Bocek and Jim Miller. The victory over Miller, a man many thought next in line for a title shot, is almost certainly what earned Henderson this opportunity.

The man opposing Henderson, Clay Guida, is a veteran of 14 Octagon appearances holding a 9-5 record and has battled the elite of the division. Guida is riding a four fight winning streak that includes 3 submission wins and most recently a victory over the last man to defeat Ben Henderson, Anthony Pettis. Expect both men to leave everything in the cage as they will be looking to cement themselves as the #1 contender in the ultra competitive UFC Lightweight Division.

Filling out the rest of the card; top ten UFC Featherweights Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza will clash as they both attempt to take another step towards a UFC title shot. Also at Featherweight, WEC veteran Cub Swanson makes his long awaited UFC debut against the explosive Ricardo Lamas and Mackens Semizier clashes with Mexican knockout artist Roberto Peralta. Japanese super star Kid Yamamoto attempts to earn his first Octagon victory, while Ultimate Fighter veterans Clay Harvison and DaMarques Johnson square off in a welterweight bout. Paul Bradley and Mike Pierce lock horns in a rematch from their 2009 bout that saw Pierce win a close decision victory. Alex “Brue Leeroy” Caceres will make his Bantamweight debut against veteran Cole Escovedo. While former Heavyweight Aaron Rosa will venture into the Light Heavyweight division as he welcomes dangerous Rage in the Cage Veteran Matt Lucas to the UFC.

UFC on Fox 1 is an event you don’t want to miss.
