UFC Fight Night 59 Best Bets – Scott Jack
- Bet Conor McGregor by R1 TKO/KO –135 (5Dimes) vs. Dennis Siver
Conor McGregor (16-2) is 4-0 in the UFC and has run through his opposition. He has promised the fans he’ll finish Dennis Siver (22-9-0-1) within two minutes. Normally I wouldn’t put any weight in a comment like that, but I’m high on the potential of the Irishman.
Siver is 36 years old and just three fights ago he was knocked out by Swanson. McGregor has more power and I like his chances to land some big shots early to finish. He’ll have a 4’’ reach advantage and his TD defense is very strong. This should be over quick.
- Bet Donald Cerrone +122 (Pinnacle) vs. Benson Henderson
Donald Cerrone (25-6-0-1) just fought at UFC 182 earlier this month and easily beat Jury by decision. Cerrone has won six in a row now and he’s close to a title shot. Benson Henderson (21-4) was just KO’ed by Dos Anjos and trying to get his things together.
This is going to be close, but I’ll take Cerrone to win at plus money. His boxing is excellent and he has a 3’’ reach advantage in the stand-up. Cerrone only has 68% TD defense and has to do his best to keep this fight standing, but if he can I like his chances.
- Bet John Howard +133 (5 Dimes) vs. Lorenz Larkin
Lorenz Larkin (14-4-0-1) was once a touted prospect, but he has now lost three in a row and four of his last five fights. Larkin has one chance to prove himself and he’s dropping down to welterweight to fight John Howard (22-10) who has lost two in a row.
Howard is well rounded and he knows this is his last shot as well, so he’ll be desperate. Larkin is likely going to have a tough weight cut and you could wait to see how he looks at weigh-in before betting Howard, but I like Howard to grind out a close decision.
- Bet Sean Spencer –149 (Paddy Power) vs. Cathal Pendred
I’m going with Sean Spencer (12-3) who looked good in his last win over Thiago. Cathal Pendred (15-2-1) has won his first two fights in the UFC. Spencer is the more active striker and more polished in the stand-up. If he keeps this fight standing up he’ll win.
- Bet McGregor by TKO/KO – Hall – Spencer Parlay +120 (Paddy Power)
I’ve already explained why I like McGregor and Spencer. Uriah Hall fights on the main card against Ron Stallings and he’s a huge ML favorite. He boosts the payout on the parlay and should easily win although I never feel totally confident when betting on Hall.
