UFC 191 – UFC Flyweight Title Betting Predictions

Best Bets for UFC 191 – Scott Jack

  • Bet Demetrious Johnson ITD +220 (5Dimes) vs. John Dodson

Should John Dodson (17-6) even be getting a title shot? If Demetrious Johnson (22-2-1) hadn’t run through the rest of the competition in the division I’m sure Dodson wouldn’t be getting this shot. Johnson is a huge ML favorite (-500).

The striking is relatively even, although Johnson has way better striking defense. The big difference will be takedowns for the champion. Johnson beat Dodson in 2013 by decision and he landed 5 TD’s. Johnson will win this fight.

I’m betting on ITD, as Johnson has been finishing at a high clip (4 of his last 5 fights).

  • Bet Andrei Arlovski vs. Frank Mir U1.5 Rounds -155 (Bet365)

I lean to Arlovski (24-10) getting the win as a small favorite against Mir (18-9), but I don’t trust him enough. My best bet in the co-main event is U1.5 rounds. Both heavyweights are finishers and have many first round results.

In fact – Mir and Arlovski have both won their last two fights by knockout. Mir has never been known for his striking, but he has displayed great power in 2015. Both guys should come out swinging and this one should end real early.

  • Bet Corey Anderson +130 (5Dimes) vs. Jan Blachowicz

I’ve been back and forth on this fight, but I don’t know how Blachowicz (18-4) is going to deal with Anderson (5-1). I was surprised to see Anderson as the underdog, as he has been more impressive in the UFC thus far.

Blachowicz is 1-1 in the UFC after losing to Manuwa last time out, while Anderson is 2-1 in the UFC, but he’s also coming off a loss to Villante. Anderson is a big dude and he has a well-balanced attack with lots of striking and TD attempts.

  • Bet Francisco Rivera +115 (Unibet) vs. John Lineker

Betting against John Lineker (25-7) isn’t usually a good idea. Since joining the UFC in 2012 – Lineker is 6-2 in the UFC. He lost his debut to Gaudinot, but since then he has only lost once and that came against Bagautinov last year.

Lineker is a brawler and rarely loses, but he has been forced to come up to bantamweight. Francisco Rivera (11-4) is 5” taller than Lineker and he’ll have a 3” reach advantage. Rivera also has great stand-up defense.

  • Johnson / Johnson / Felder / Arlovski and Mir U1.5 Parlay +195 (Unibet)

I’m kind of banking on Arlovski vs. Mir to be a quick fight this weekend.

For my best parlay, I’ve also bet on Anthony Johnson (19-5) to beat Jimi Manuwa (15-1). Manuwa was knocked out last time he stepped up in competition against Gustafsson and the hard-hitting Johnson should win this by TKO/KO.

Right now the best price on Johnson by TKO/KO is -215 at 5Dimes.

Johnson just lost to Cormier, but prior to that he knocked out Gustafsson. Manuwa can beat a lot of the LHW’s in the division, but Johnson is the #1 contender for a reason. He’ll pick apart Manuwa and win by stoppage.

Paul Felder (10-1) is the final pick and he’s a huge favorite as well. Felder fights Ross Pearson (17-9). Pearson is a grinder and always a tough guy to fight, but he’s 2-3 dating back to last year with wins against Maynard and Stout.

Pearson still has some power, as both of those wins were by knockout, but Felder has a lot of on the line. He hasn’t lived up to the hype yet and he just lost to Barboza. Pearson is a veteran just like Barboza, so this could be a close fight.
