UFC 149 Main Event Odds & Predictions

  • Renan (Barao) Pegado -190 vs. Urijah Faber +165

Renan Pegado (28-1) hasn’t lost since his 1st career fight back in 2005 although he does have a NC as well. Pegado is 3-0 since he moved over to the UFC from WEC with his latest win being his best against Scott Jorgenson. Urijah Faber (26-5) may have more losses to his record, but he is much more battled tested than Pegado in the cage.

Faber hasn’t been able to beat the best yet including losses against Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz, but Faber will be able to put up a good fight against Pegado. Both fighters have good striking and great ground games. Faber is a solid wrestler while Renan has amazing BJJ with excellent submissions. I like Faber’s experience and style of fighting will earn him a decision victory.

UFC 149 Main Card Odds & Predictions

  • Hector Lombard -370 vs. Tim Boetsch +310

The Cuban Hector Lombard (31-2-1) will be taking on Tim Boetsch (15-4) in the co-main event. Boetsch is on a 3-fight win streak and he’s fresh off his victory over Yushin Okami. Lombard hasn’t lost since 2006 and he should win, Boetsch is always a scary opponent in the cage, but Lombard is extremely explosive and possesses immense talent (Black Belt in Judo & BJJ).

  • Shawn Jordan -135 vs. Cheick Kongo +115

Shawn Jordan (13-3) won his UFC debut against Oli Thompson, but fighting Cheick Kongo (17-7-2) is a big step up. Kongo has a great stand-up game with powerful striking. Jordan has been knocked out twice in his 3 losses and I think Kongo should be able to knockout Jordan or at the very least win this fight by decision. Kongo at +115 is the best underdog on the UFC 149 card.

  • Brian Ebersole -370 vs. James Head +310

Brian Ebersole (50-14-1) has been unstoppable in the UFC cage so far and is now 4-0. James Head (8-2) lost his debut in the UFC, but he bounced back with a win over Papy Abedi in this next fight. Ebersole is a powerful striker and his cardio is good enough to last the full 3-rounds against Head. Look for Ebersole to utilize his experience in the cage and pick up another win.

  • Matt Riddle -145 vs. Chris Clements +125

Matt Riddle (6-3) is back in the cage for the 2nd time this year after beating Henry Martinez in his last fight. Chris Clements (11-4) is another Canadian fighter and he won his UFC debut. Riddle isn’t that tough of an opponent, as he lacks power and he isn’t able to control the fight against most of his opponents. This is a good shot for Clements to pick-up a win and I’m betting on him.
