UFC 139 Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson Betting Odds
Taking place on November 19th, UFC 139 is one of the most stacked cards from top to bottom of 2011. This event will feature 7 former champions from the UFC, Strikeforce, WEC, and Pride, an Ultimate Fighter Finalist credited with putting the UFC on the map, some of the best up and coming talent the promotion has to offer, and if that isn’t enough the main card will showcase a pair of fights to determine the new number one contenders in the Light Heavyweight and Bantamweight divisions. We have the latest live UFC Betting Odds and when they are released we list the latest Betting Odds for Fight, KO and Submission of the Night (UFC Prop Betting Odds), they usually go live shortly after the UFC 139 weigh-ins. The main event will feature a clash of former Pride stars as former UFC 205lbs champion Mauricio Shogun Rua will battle the last man to hold the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight strap and former two division Pride Champion Dan Hendo Henderson.
Barring injury, the winner of this fight will be granted a shot at current UFC Light heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, but remember this is the UFC where nothing is guaranteed. Shogun dropped the title to Jones but rebounded nicely at UFC Rio with a first round knockout of Forrest Griffin. Dan Henderson is enjoying a career resurgence, despite being 40 years old. Hendo has won 6 of his last 7, and is looking to build upon a 5-2 record inside the Octagon.
This matchup is scheduled to go 5 rounds, but the fact that Henderson and Shogun have a combined total of 30 wins by TKO or KO indicates otherwise. The list of opponents that have fallen by knockout to these two knockout artists is truly impressive; Fedor Emelianenko, Michael Bisping, Wanderlei Silva, Forrest Griffin, Lyoto Machida, Chuck Liddell, Alistair Overeem, and Rampage Jackson.
From the start of the opening round Dan Henderson will have his dreaded H-Bomb coiled and ready and Shogun will be more than willing to oblige with his own arsenal of devastating strikes making UFC 139’s main event a must see.
The co-main event should be equally entertaining as vaunted Strikers Wanderlei Silva and Cung Le battle in the middleweight division. Silva will attempt to resurrect his career following a knockout defeat versus heavy handed Chris Leben. Cung Le is making his promotional debut in his home town and will look put on a kickboxing clinic. This is another bout that most likely will not make it to the scorecards.
Taking a look at the rest of the main card. Two former WEC Champions will clash as Urijah Faber battles Brian Bowles with a shot at the UFC Bantamweight title on the line. Bowles has started his UFC career 2-0 and with a win will have an opportunity to get back in cage with the only man to defeat him, Dominick Cruz. Urijah Faber is coming off a hard fought defeat against Cruz, where he went five rounds with the champ but was unable to take his title away. This matchup pits two of the top UFC Bantamweights head to and head in a fight that could defiantly steal the show.
In the welterweight division Martin Kampmann will look to get back in the win column following two highly contested decision defeats as he takes on the always dangerous rising star Rick the Horror Story. Kicking of the card, Stephan Bonnar, victorious in his last two trips to the octagon, will square off with physical specimen Kyle Kingsbury in a matchup that has the makings of a 3 round war.
The undercard will feature a matchup of two high level wrestlers in Jason Brilz and Ryan Bader in the Light Heavyweight division. At Middleweight, undefeated NCAA wrestling standout Chris Weidman will take on the Filthy Mauler Tom Lawlor. A battle of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts in the Lightweight division between Rafael Dos Anjos and Gleison Tibau will propel the winner into the title conversation. 20 year old Bantamweight superstar Michael McDonald makes his third appearance in the octagon, while former WEC Bantamweight champion Miguel Torres returns to action against Nick Pace.
