Well one of the biggest, certainly the richest fight of our time is almost upon us and its time to get them bets in. Here is a little guide as to the types of bets you can do.
Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Fight Odds
This is a straight up bet pick the winner, no how the fight will end or things like that just who will win. If you bet $100 on Mayweather you will win $45 ($145 total) if you bet Pacman you will win $180 ($280 total). These are the current lines taken from 5 Dimes.
Method of Victory
Here is where you can get creative with your betting, there is a tonne of options available here. Many think this fight is going to decision, in boxing you can bet that multiple ways.
- Pacquiao wins by 12 round decision: +468 (5.68) – $100 bet wins $468
- Mayweather wins by 12 round decision: -102 (1.98) – $100 bet wins $98
There are more ways to bet a decision, naturally because you are calling the exact outcome of a fight the odds will be much better.
- Unanimous decision – All judges score the fight for the same person.
- Split decision – Two judges score it for one fighter, the other judge goes for the other.
- Majority decision – Two judges score it for one fighter, the other judge scores it a draw.
- Technical decision – The referee stops the fight because of a headbutt.
You can also bet on the fight to end in a draw, and as with decisions you can also have the options listed above. The odds on these will be very big because it is an unlikely outcome.
- Pacquiao / Mayweather draw: +1225 (13.25) – $100 bet wins $1225
Inside the Distance
If you think one of these guys is going to stop the other you can bet who will win, you will have a couple of options here
- Wins inside the distance – One fighter wins inside the distance, could be a KO, TKO or DQ.
- Wins by KO – One fighter wins by knockout, does not include TKO or DQ.
- Wins by TKO – The referee stops the fight due to knockdowns or cuts or whatever.
- Wins by DQ – The referee stops the fight due to a serious foul.
- Pacquiao wins inside distance: +490 (5.9)
- Mayweather Jr wins inside distance: +504 (6.04)
Round Betting
Round betting is pretty simple to figure out, you select the round you think the fight will end. The odds for this will generally be great because you are calling exactly when the fight ends.
You can also do what called round group betting. The odds for this wont be as good as getting the correct round but you have a better chance of hitting. Generally they will go:
- One fighter wins in rounds 1-3 / 4-7 /8-12 or 1-6 / 7-12
You can also bet the fight will end in a given round or group of rounds, this is not picking the winner but when the fight will end.
Connected to this you can bet is the fight will go the distance or not.
- Pacquiao / Mayweather goes distance: -250 (1.4) – $100 bet wins $40
- Fight won’t go distance: +210 (3.1) – $100 bet wins $210
