If you’re new to betting on the UFC we recommend reading over our two beginner guides that’ll teach you how to read odds and the different types of bets in the UFC. Lately a lot of bettors have been paying more attention to the prop betting markets being offered by some of the top sportsbooks. In the UFC there are 3 awards handed out at the end of each UFC event including the Submission of the Night (SOTN), Knockout of the Night (KOTN) and Fight of the Night (FOTN).
Before the event starts you can wager on these 3 prop bets at 5Dimes Sportsbook and Paddy Power Sportsbook. We haven’t seen these 3 specials offered at any other bookmakers yet, but we’ll let you know if that changes. Americans and Canadians can use 5Dimes to bet on UFC prop bets while everyone else can use Paddy Power Sportsbook. If you want to learn more about the 3 UFC prop bets continue reading below.
Fight of the Night (FOTN) Prop Bet
The Fight of the Night bonus is awarded to the two fighters deemed to have had the best battle in the cage. The fights from the main card and preliminary card can win this bonus, so you have a lot of fights to choose from when betting on the FOTN. You’ll generally find odds in the +400 – +1000 range and sometimes even higher on this bet. The main event is always bet on a lot, but there is definitely more value betting on other fights to win the bonus.
Submission of the Night (SOTN) Prop Bet
The Submission of the Night bonus is awarded to the fighter that wins his fight with the best submission. This bet is easier to handicap because you can determine the fighters that are good at submissions easily. The odds on this bet tend to range in the +500 – +1500 range, but can be even higher on fighters that don’t submit many opponents.
Knockout of the Night (KOTN) Prop Bet
The Knockout of the Night bonus is awarded to the fighter that wins with the best knockout. This bet can be harder to predict than the SOTN prop bet because KO’s happen by surprise all the time. The odds on this bet will always be in the +500 or higher range depending on the fighter that you decide to bet on. Look for fighters that have lots of recent KO’s when making this bet and don’t forget to look at the prelim card although most of those fights don’t end by KO.
One thing to keep in mind when betting on these UFC prop bets is that you can bet on multiple fighters to win each of the bets and still make a profit. If you bet on 3 fighters to win the KOTN bonus and they all have odds of +500 you’d still make +200 profit if one of them wins the bonus. By spreading your money around you’ll increase your chances of winning and you’ll also have more fighters to cheer on while watching the fights.
