UFC on FX 5 Betting Odds & Predictions

The UFC is back on this weekend again with UFC on FX 5, which is being hosted at the Target Center in Minnesota. The event is this Friday, October 5th 2012 at 8PM, so make sure you get your bets in on time. I’ve predicted each of the main card fights below and I’ve also posted the latest betting odds for the UFC on FX 5 prelim fights at the bottom of the article.

UFC on FX 5 Main Card Odds & Predictions

Travis Browne (13-0-1) has a decisive edge in takedowns against Antonio Silva (16-4) in the main event at UFC on FX 5. These two fighters have powerful stand-up games, but Browne should be able to score points with takedowns. Browne has never lost yet, but this is going to be the toughest fight of his career, as Silva has plenty of big time cage experience. Both fighters are about the same in the stand-up other than Silva having better stand-up defence, but I think Browne takes this fight by points.

Jake Ellenberger (27-6) will look to get back into the win column after losing to Kampmann in his last fight. Jay Hieron (23-5) will be making his UFC debut, but he does have some Bellator experience. Hieron isn’t a bad fighter, but this match-up is tough. He’ll lose the stand-up game to Ellenberger and the takedown battle will be close. Both fighters are excellent at takedowns and also at stopping takedowns. If Ellenberger can keep the fight standing he should win by TKO/KO.

  • John Dodson TBD vs. Jussier Da Silva TBD

John Dodson (13-5) is 2-0 in the UFC and he has looked good in both of his fights. He won by TKO over Dillashaw and by decision against Tim Elliot. Dodson has power in his strikes, which Da Silva lacks. Jussier Da Silva (14-1) is a submission expert who will be making his UFC debut on Friday night. Da Silva has excellent submissions, but he has absolutely no power. If Dodson can keep this fight standing up he should have no problem striking his way to a victory at UFC on FX 5.

  • Josh Neer TBD vs. Justin Edwards TBD

To kick-off the main card on Friday night Josh Neer (33-11-1) will be in the cage against Justin Edwards (7-2). Edwards is only 1-2 in the UFC and has been unimpressive thus far. Neer lost his last UFC fight against Mike Pyle by KO, but he should be able to get in the win column again against a weaker opponent. The one thing that worries me about Neer is his takedown defence and the fact that Edwards has used takedowns regularly in his first couple fights. I’m still backing Neer to win this one though.

  • Diego Nunes vs. Bart Palaszewski
