UFC Fight Night 81

The UFC is back this Sunday night for UFC Fight Night 81 Cruz vs Dillashaw. A UFC Title fight in the Bantamweight division. T.J. Dillashaw is the Current UFC Champion having beaten Renan Barao twice. Dominick Cruz is the former champ and has actually never lost the belt. His injury’s have kept him out for a long time thats how he lost his belt. This should be an intriguing fight Dillashaw has looked fantastic as champ and Cruz is really one of the best if ring rust does not play a part. Also fighting is former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis, hes taking on Eddie Alvarez for a top contender spot in the division. As always here is the latest UFC betting odds and predictions.

UFC Fight Night 81 – UFC Bantamweight Title Betting Predictions

Best Bets for UFC Fight Night 81 – Scott Jack

  • T.J. Dillashaw -136 (5Dimes) vs. Dominick Cruz

Dillashaw (12-2) has won four fights since losing to Assuncao, including three TKO/KO wins in a row. I’m a bit surprised to be getting such a good price on the champion, as Dominick Cruz (20-1) is in a tough spot.

Sure, Cruz beat Mizugaki by KO (R1) in September 2014, but that’s the only time he has fought since 2011 due to injuries. Dillashaw is on a roll, has improved his striking and Cruz has too many question marks to answer.

  • Anthony Pettis ITD +105 (5Dimes) vs. Eddie Alvarez

I’ve always been a fan of Alvarez (26-4), but he’s going to struggle against Pettis (18-3). Alvarez is a boxer, but he’ll be giving up 3” in reach and Pettis is known for being able to control the distance exceptionally well.

Alvarez will likely look for takedowns, but Pettis is great on his back and can lock in submissions quickly. Pettis is coming off a loss to Dos Anjos, but prior to that he had submitted Melendez and Henderson.

  • Travis Browne -147 (SportBet) vs. Matt Mitrione

Sometimes a little patience can payoff in the heavyweight division. Mitrione (9-4) wants this fight, but let’s be honest, he’s coming off a submission loss to Rothwell in R1. Browne (17-3-1) should be a bigger favorite.

Browne is a power striker just like Mitrione, but Browne is more calculated in his approach. Mitrione always has a chance to land a wicked shot to win, but Browne needs to win to keep his title hopes alive.

  • Francisco Trinaldo +140 (SportsInteraction) vs. Ross Pearson

The first main card fight is between Trinaldo (18-4) and Pearson (18-9-0-1). Trinaldo had a great 2015 – going 3-0 with a R1 knockout against Laprise last time out. Pearson is also coming off a win against Felder (SD).

Pearson has had mixed results since 2013 (4-3-0-1) and Trinaldo presents good value as an underdog. Trinaldo needs to take this fight to the ground, where he’ll have an advantage over Pearson.

  • Dillashaw ML + Browne ML Parlay (+189) at BetDSI

My top parlay this weekend is Dillashaw and Browne. Surprisingly, it almost pays out at 2/1 odds. There are a few big favorites you could add to this parlay as well, including Wade over Baghdad and Latifi over O’Connell.

Felder, Boetsch, Rosa and Font are also options on the prelims. Boetsch is one I’d avoid on your parlays, but the rest I like. Felder needs a bounce back win and I expect him to easily pick up a win against Cruickshank.
