The Open Championship is in Scotland this week and so is the UFC – UFC Fight Night 72 is in Glasgow, Scotland and most of the action is on Fox Sports 1. The fight card isn’t overly exciting, but we have several good fights on tap.

UFC Fight Night 72 Best Bets – Scott Jack

Bet Thales Leites -102 (SportBet) vs. Michael Bisping

Thales Leites (25-4) is 5-0 in the UFC in his second stint with the promotion – with wins against Watson, Herman, Smith, Carmont and Boetsch. That’s an impressive resume and here’s why I believe he’ll beat Michael Bisping (26-7).

Leites has a 6” reach advantage, so it’ll be tougher for Bisping to work his boxing. Leites averages 2.59 TD’s every 15 minutes in the cage and Bisping’s TDD is only 63%. Bisping is still a threat, but I’ve been more impressed with Leites.

Bet Ross Pearson by TKO/KO +150 (Unibet) vs. Evan Dunham

Ross Pearson (17-8) fights Evan Dunham (15-6) in what should be an exciting co-main event. Pearson has heavy hands and has recently knocked out Stout and Maynard. Dunham just beat Damm by decision – breaking a 3-fight losing streak.

Both fighters have TDD right around 80% and only complete about 35% of their TD attempts. With that being said – this fight should be fought standing up. Pearson has heavier hands and I believe he’ll have enough in him to get the TKO/KO.

Bet Hans Stringer +206 (SportBet) vs. Ilir Latifi

I’m not too excited about this fight or bet for that matter, but I can’t pass up the value on Hans Stringer (22-6-3) against Ilir Latifi (9-4). Latifi has zero cardio – his last three UFC fights have all ended in the opening round.

Latifi eats way too many strikes and Stringer will be able to take advantage of Latifi in the last two rounds as long as he can avoid the early rush from Latifi. Stringer averages more strikes and takedowns as well.

Bet Paddy Holohan -172 (Bet365) vs. Vaughn Lee

Paddy Holohan (11-1-1) is 2-1 in the UFC with wins against Sampo and Howell. Vaughn Lee (14-10-1) has never been a great fighter and he’s bordering on the age of retirement – he has been alternating wins and losses since 2011.

His last win was against Phan and it wasn’t impressive in the least. Holohan isn’t great either, but he has shown an ability to get his opponent on the mat. His striking could use work, as he isn’t overly active, but he’s very accurate.

A Holohan and Leites parlay at Pinnacle pays just over 2/1, which I can’t complain about.

Both fighters should definitely win. I’ll also be adding Pearson by TKO/KO onto the parlay and bet it at 5Dimes once they release the odds. Stringer isn’t parlay material and I’d advise against putting him on your parlays this weekend.

There are a bunch of big favorites on the fight card, but I none of them stand out too much. Joseph Duffy should be able to dominate against Ivan Jorge, but at -700 odds, there’s not much of a point adding him either.
