UFC Fight Night 70 Betting Predictions
UFC Fight Night 70 Best Bets – Scott Jack
- Bet Yoel Romero +167 (Paddy Powers) vs. Lyoto Machida
If my memory serves me correctly – I’ve had poor luck betting on or against Machida (22-6). He’s 3-3 in his last six, but his losses have come against top fighters in Weidman, Rockhold and Davis. However, I’m going against the Brazilian.
First off – the fight isn’t in Brazil anymore. Yoel Romero (9-1) is also a big striker and a southpaw. He’s 5-0 in the UFC with four wins by TKO/KO. Romero is a world class wrestler too. He should pick apart Machida on the mat and I can’t pass up his value.
- Bet Levan Makashvili +170 (Bet365) vs. Hacran Dias
Dias (22-3-1) is 2-2 in the UFC with losses to Lentz and Lamas. I’m not sold on Dias and now that this fight is in the USA – I’ll be gladly betting on the American. Makashvili (7-1) wasn’t great in his debut, but he got the win and landed seven takedowns.
Dias has 80% TDD and he’s not easy to takedown, but Makashvili is persistent and should land a couple TD’s, which I believe will be enough. Dias has only averaged 2.00 SLpM and doesn’t do much work in the cage. I think these odds are way out of whack.
- Bet Lorenz Larkin -215 (5 Dimes) vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
I wanted to bet on the method of victory to get a better line, but I couldn’t decide between a TKO/KO win or a decision win. Larkin (15-4-0-1) had a rough 2014 – he went 0-3 with losses to Tavares, Philippou and Brunson. However, he beat Howard by TKO in 2015.
Larkin needs to stay on track with another win against Ponzinibbio (19-2). The Argentine fighter is 2-1 in the UFC after winning two in a row, but Larkin has a striking edge and neither fighter has a ground game. Larkin is an accurate striker and he should win.
- Bet Larkin + Santos + Oliveira + Romero Parlay +583 (5 Dimes)
You already know why I’m betting on Larkin and Romero.
Thiago Santos (10-3) is 2-2 in the UFC with losses to Hall and Ferreira – both respectable opponents. Steve Bosse (10-1) is making his debut and his lack of experience will play a role. Bosses has power, but Santos has a 4” reach edge and can keep his distance.
I’ve also added the biggest favorite on the UFC Fight Night 70 card. Alex Oliveira (11-2-1-1) is 1-1 in the UFC and he just joined the promotion in 2015. This is his third fight already. He’ll have no problem beating newcomer Joe Merritt (6-0).
