UFC Fight Night 56 Odds and Predictions

UFC Fight Night 56 is in Brazil on Saturday and is the second of two events this weekend. I’m looking forward to watching a couple of the fights including McCall vs. Lineker in the co-main event. After going over the card I like a lot of underdogs to win in Brazil.

UFC Fight Night 56 Betting Predictions

  • Bet Ovince St. Preux +165 (5 Dimes) vs. Mauricio Rua

Ovince St. Preux (16-6) is 4-1 in the UFC after losing to Bader last time out. Mauricio Rua (22-9) has been on a downward trajectory for awhile now. He has consistently fought top-level competition, but he hasn’t strung together two wins in a row since 2009.

Rua is 4-5 in the UFC since 2010 and his career is near an end. St. Preux has a 4’’ reach advantage in the stand-up and he has an edge in wrestling as well. I also think St. Preux has more in the tank. Even with this fight being in Brazil I’ll be backing the underdog.

  • Bet Leonardo Silva –175 (BetLion365) vs. Charlie Brenneman

This is the second stint in the UFC for Charlie Brenneman (19-7) and so far he’s 0-2 in his first two fights back. Leonardo Silva (16-2-1) lost his UFC debut by decision, but the Brazilian is a finisher. He has ten stoppage wins, nine of which have come by submission.

Brenneman has been finished in his last two fights and Silva should be able to do the same in his home country. I’m waiting on the odds for Silva ITD, but I’d avoid betting on him to win by submission like most people will because he may win by TKO/KO.

  • Bet John Lineker +150 (Bovada) vs. Ian McCall

John Lineker (24-7) is 5-2 in the UFC and he may earn his title shot with a win over Ian McCall (13-4-1). McCall has won two in a row and is looking for another title shot as well. McCall is known for his speed, athleticism and ability to defend the big shots.

Lineker is a straight up poker striker that loves to look for the early finish. That may leave him open for punishment against a fighter like McCall, but I think he’ll be able to catch McCall and stun him. This fight is in Brazil as well, which is an advantage for Lineker.

  • Bet St. Preux / Magalhaes / Silva Parlay +506 (Bovada)

I really like Silva to win and Caio Magalhaes (8-1) should have little problem beating Trevor Smith (12-5). Magalhaes is 3-1 in the UFC and on a 3-fight win streak after losing his debut. Smith is 2-2 in the UFC and he has been knocked out three times in his career.

Magalhaes just won his last fight by TKO and he now has two stoppage wins in the UFC already. St. Preux is a bit risky against Rua, but I really like him as well and he makes the parlay pay so well. There aren’t a lot of big favorites for parlays on this card.
