UFC Fight Night 51 Predictions

Best Bets for UFC Fight Night 51

• Bet Antonio Silva ITD –165 (5Dimes) vs. Andrei Arlovski

Antonio Silva (18-5-1) had a 1-1-1 record in 2013 with a KO win against Overeem, TKO loss against Velasquez and a tie against Hunt. I thought he fought well in those fights. Andrei Arlovski (22-10-0-1) is back in the UFC and picked up a win over Schaub in June.

The win was unimpressive. Silva beat Arlovski in 2010 by decision in a Strikeforce fight already as well. Arlovski has been knocked out seven times in his career and Silva still has power, as he KO’ed Overeem last year. I look for Silva to beat Arlovski by TKO/KO.

• Bet Piotr Hallmann +186 (5Dimes) vs. Gleison Tibau

The underdogs went well last week and this week my top dog is Piotr Hallmann (15-2) against veteran Gleison Tibau (29-10). Tibau is going to have the crowd behind him, but the reason I like Hallmann is because he can defend takedowns and submission attempts.

Tibau doesn’t have power and he’ll simply look for takedowns and submissions. Hallmann stops 69% of TD attempts and his striking is better than Tibau. Hallmann averages 4.51 SLpM (Tibau – 1.93 SLpM) and he also has deceptive power (7 TKO/KO Wins).

• Bet Santiago Ponzinibbio +108 (Pinnacle) vs. Wendell Marques

Santiago Ponzinibbio (18-2) lost his UFC debut to LaFlare last year, but injury has hindered his career thus far. The Argentine fighter is healthy and going up against Wendell Marques (24-7). Marques is making his UFC debut, but he’s a big fighter with power.

Marques could easily win this fight by TKO/KO, but Ponzinibbio has a good chin and has only been KO’ed once. Ponzinibbio is a well-rounded fighter with a strong submission game and power. Marques has been tapped four times and I think he’ll get tapped.

• Bet Alcantara vs. Doane Under 2.5 Rounds –105 (BetOnline)

Iuri Alcantara (30-5-0-1) is a beast and he has put up a 5-2-0-1 record in the UFC including a recent KO win over Lee. Alcantara has stopped 25 of his opponents (13 TKO/KO – 12 Submissions). He’ll be fighting Russell Doane (14-3) who is 2-0 in the UFC.

Doane is also a finisher, as he has ended 11 of his opponents. The likelihood of this fight making it the distance is slim and I feel that we’re getting good odds on the under 2.5 rounds. Both of these guys are finishers and I like Alcantara to win by TKO/KO.

• Bet Silva / Santos / Alcantara Parlay +160 (Pinnacle)

I’ve already explained why I like Silva and Alcantara to win. Leonardo Santos (12-3-1) is 1-0-1 in the UFC and he just had a draw in his last fight against Parke. Efrain Escudero (22-8) is back in the UFC, but I have no idea why, as he was never good in the UFC.
