UFC Fight Night 49 Predictions

The second event this Saturday is UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The action will be available on Fox Sports 1 and there will be a late start (Main Card – 10:00pm ET). With two events on Saturday there is plenty of opportunity to increase your roll.

UFC Fight Night 49 Best Bets

• Bet on Benson Henderson by Decision –145 (5Dimes) vs. Rafael Dos Anjos

Benson Henderson (21-3) has won two fights since losing to Pettis including a submission win over Khabilov last time out. In the main event Bendo will be taking on Rafael Dos Anjos (21-7) who just beat Jason High in June by TKO.

Dos Anjos lost to Nurmagomedov prior to the win over High. Dos Anjos has only been stopped twice although this is the first time he’ll fight five rounds. Henderson will relentlessly attack Dos Anjos throughout the fight, but I don’t expect him to finish.

• Bet on Francis Carmont –147 (SportBet) vs. Thales Leites

Francis Carmont (22-9) has now lost two in a row and he needs to win this fight badly. Carmont is a big guy for his weight class and he’s very athletic. Leites is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC, but he has shown that he has poor TD accuracy and TD defense.

Neither fighter is very active in the stand-up, as both average below 2.0 SLpM. Carmont only averages 1.89 TD attempts (Per 15M), but with Leites only stopping 28% of TD attempts I expect Carmont to land a few takedowns and win this fight by decision.

• Bet on Tom Niinimaki –130 (Carbon Sports) vs. Chas Skelly

Tom Niinimaki (21-6-1) is a veteran fighter, but he only has two UFC fights under his belt. He has gone 1-1, as he recently lost to Backstrom in a fight where I thought Niinimaki looked good. Chas Skelly (11-1) lost his UFC debut in April and didn’t look great.

Skelly has good wrestling and a legitimate ground game that Niinimaki should work on avoiding. If the Finnish fighter can keep the fight standing he’ll have a big edge. Niinimaki is also a threat to submit Skelly. Overall Niinimaki is more well rounded than Skelly.

• Bet on Bisping / Henderson / Mein / Holloway Parlay +230 (SportBet)

The only fighter on the Macau card I really trust is Bisping. I just don’t expect Le to perform well after such a long layoff. Henderson will beat Dos Anjos. I’ve also added Jordan Mein to beat Mike Pyle and Max Holloway to beat Clay Collard.

Holloway was supposed to fight Bektic, but he’ll now be fighting Collard who had very little notice. Mein has a lot of talent, but he still has to put it all together. Pyle is 38 years old, but still a powerful striker. Pyle is always dangerous, but I’m on the Canadian.

Mein is the more active striker and he has much better stand-up defense. If he can keep Pyle from taking him down he’ll win this fight. Holloway is the safest bet on both cards, but his odds are way too high to bet SU, so he’ll only be on my parlays.
