UFC 188 Velasquez vs Werdum

The UFC Heavyweight title is up for grabs this weekend when current and intern champs Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum meet at UFC 188 in Mexico City. This is looking like a fun card top to bottom and if its anything like the last few we are in for a treat. Cannot wait until Saturday night June 13th for UFC 188.

UFC 188 Best Bets – Scott Jack

Bet on Cain Velasquez by TKO/KO -119 (5Dimes) vs. Fabricio Werdum

Cain Velasquez (13-1) has really only been challenge by JDS in his career. Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1) deserves a title shot, as he’s on a 5-0 run with wins over some big name heavyweights like Nelson, Browne and Hunt. However, he’s in over his head in this fight.

Werdum has 36% TD defense, while Velasquez is averaging over 5 TD’s per 15 minutes. The champion will take Werdum to the mat and pound him out until the referee jumps in. It may take a couple rounds, but Velasquez with win his 12th fight by TKO/KO.

Bet on Eddie Alvarez ML +158 (5Dimes) vs. Gilbert Melendez

Sure, Gilbert Melendez (22-4) has decent grappling, but Eddie Alvarez (25-4) brings power to the table. Alvarez will have to deal with a 4” reach disadvantage, however, if he gets inside of Melendez’s reach, he’ll be able to pick up a decision win.

Alvarez has great TD defense too (90%) and he’s capable of landing a TD or two to sway the judges’ decision. A better bet is on over 2.5 rounds (-210 at Pinnacle), but I like the value on Alvarez – he’s easily my favorite underdog for UFC 188.

Bet on Patrick Williams ML +154 (Pinnacle) vs. Alejandro Perez

Patrick Williams (7-4) looked terrible in his debut and he lost to Beal. Alejandro Perez (15-5) won his UFC debut against Quinonez, but it wasn’t pretty. Here’s an another underdog I believe shouldn’t be priced this high and I’m willing to take a chance on him.

Williams has to come out and look for TD’s. He landed two in his debut, while Perez was taken down 3 times in his debut. Williams can score enough points to win by decision with a few TD’s, plus Williams has 6” reach advantage and can keep his distance.

Bet on Albert Tumenov by TKO/KO -140 (Paddy Powers) vs. Andrew Todhunter

Andrew Todhunter (7-0) and Albert Tumenov (15-2) kick-off the fight card at UFC 188. Todhunter took this fight on very short notice and he’s making his UFC debut. He has only fought on the amateur circuit and this is a fight he’ll regret taking.

The Russian has nasty hands – he’s quick, powerful and will likely take little time to knockout the American. Tumenov is 3-1 in the UFC – his loss came in his debut against Alcantara. He has improved since then, especially his TD defense and he’ll win by TKO/KO.

Tumenov is also a candidate to win KOTN honours at UFC 188.

Bet on Velasquez + Gastelum + Tumenov Parlay -122 (Pinnacle)

I’ve explained why I’m betting on Velasquez and Tumenov. I’m also adding Kelvin Gastelum (10-1) to beat Nate Marquardt (33-14-2) on the main card. Marquardt is on a terrible 1-4 run and Gastelum should have little problem picking up the victory.
