UFC 168 Predictions

UFC 168 is one of, if not the biggest fight card we’ve seen ever. That’s why the UFC has decided to charge $5 extra for the PPV, but with the scheduled fights I don’t mind spending a bit extra. It’ll be a great way to cap off the year and I expect some great fights.

Best Bets on the UFC 168 Card

  • Bet Gleison Tibau –144 (Pinnacle) vs. Michael Johnson

You never know what Gleison Tibau (28-9) is going to show up on Saturday night. He has won his last two (Cholish & Varner) and if he shows up to fight he’ll likely dominate Michael Johnson (13-8) who has been somewhat of a disappointment in the UFC.

Johnson beat Lauzon by decision in his last fight, but before that he lost two in a row (Jury & Madadi). Johnson has been submitted six times in his career and Tibau has 12 by sub including one against Cholish. I like Tibau to win by submission or decision.

I thought Chris Weidman (10-0) looked good in his last fight against Anderson Silva (33-5) even before Silva started fighting like he was dominating. I didn’t appreciate the cockiness of Silva and he also didn’t seem too enthused about fighting in this rematch.

Silva was paid well to take the fight, but will his heart be in this fight? Weidman isn’t going to want to lose the title and I think he’ll have success again by utilizing his wrestling and setting up power shots in the stand-up. I’m betting on Weidman at plus money.

  • Bet Rousey vs. Tate to Start Round Two –130 (5Dimes)

Ronda Rousey (7-0) has won all of her fights by armbar and all of them have been in the opening round. Miesha Tate (13-4) will not win this fight, but I think she can survive the 1st round, as she has already fought Rousey and has a good idea what to expect.

Rousey is going to try and sink in the armbar in the 1st round just like every other fight. In the 1st fight against Tate it took 4:27 to lock in the armbar for Rousey. Tate has a chance at redemption and she should be able to hold off the armbar until the 2nd round starts.

  • Bet Travis Browne +185 (Carbon Sports) vs. Josh Barnett

Josh Barnett (33-6) could take this fight to the ground and end it or at the very least win by submission, but my gut tells me that he’ll want to stand and bang with Travis Browne (15-1-1). That’ll prove to be a bad idea, as Browne has the power to KO anyone.

  • Bet Rousey / Poirier / Miller –105 (Carbon Sports)

My top parlay this weekend is on Rousey, Poirier and Miller to all win SU. Jim Miller should easily beat Camoes. The toughest fight is going to be the Dustin Poirier vs. Brandao fight. This is a big step up for Brandao who hasn’t shown he can hang with top level talent.
